All of the ornate full brick arched walls were cracked and all walls were either demolished and rebuilt or repaired by remedial repairs such as reappointing with cement mortar or an epoxy resin. The majority of the roof was replaced. Internal repairs consisted of line render of random walls and repainting and decorating throughout. (Building was devastated during the Newcastle earthquake 28 December 1998).
